Our Performance
Ofsted 2023
We welcomed Ofsted into our school on 13th and 14th September 2023. It was a positive experience and now that we have achieved “Good” we look forward to continuing to improve and develop our school.
I would like to thank the parents who took time to speak to the inspectors, the kind words of encouragement that you also shared with the staff and the hard work of the staff and pupils. Governors were massively involved and as a team Staff and Governors have shown how wonderful our school is. However, the proof of this was ultimately the children, they were very confident and clearly explained to the inspectors what they have learnt, how their school deals with things and what is special about Chilmark School. Inspectors agreed with me that the pupils are very special and that makes our school successful as well.

Ofsted Celebration
It was lovely to welcome parents into school for the ice cream celebration party. Our school cook baked a special Ofsted cake and we unveiled our official plaque. The children really enjoyed the ice cream treat and they were shown a child friendly power point presentation explaining the Ofsted process.
Our School’s Performance
There is a publicly available school benchmarking site. Please be mindful of the size of our classes and when dealing with data as % the results are misleading skewed when comparing data with schools of a much larger size and National Averages.
Our Partnerships
The school is outward looking and works with partners from the locality and from further afield. We have been partners in the national Maths Mastery Research Project for three years. We graduated from the Department for Education Phonics Hub initiative with accredited best practice and above National Average results for reading.
We work closely with the local secondary schools to make sure that the curriculum prepares pupils well. Our curriculum models have been monitored and we continue to pull on expert advice to ensure that the offer at Chilmark is of the highest standard.
We acknowledge that our performance isn’t all about academic results so we also pride ourselves on our sporting achievements, and other extra-curricular awards that help our children become well-rounded individuals.
