Dear Parents,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school website. Please feel free to explore the pages to find out about our fantastic village school.

We are ‘a small school with big ideas‘ and this allows us to offer the best of both worlds. We have a small school atmosphere where all pupils know each other and families are encouraged to join in with the life of the school, whilst also having the ability to access resources and activities through our close links with neighbouring schools.

What makes Chilmark and Fonthill Bishop School special is our core value – we place the child at the centre of everything we do – because it is our belief that every child is special.

We warmly welcome visits to the school, so do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to visit or to obtain further information.

Thank you for your interest in our school.

Mr Smith

“I would give this school a ten out of ten!”

Governors Welcome

We learn and grow with faith and love

The Governors welcome you to Chilmark and Fonthill Bishop Church of England Aided Primary School where our Christian ethos is at the heart of everything we do. We welcome families and children of all faiths and those of none. The Christian faith is reflected in our assemblies and curriculum whilst encouraging our pupils to be aware of their responsibilities to those of different faiths and cultural backgrounds.

The Governors are drawn from the Church, parents, staff and the community and bring a wide range of expertise from their varied backgrounds. The school is fortunate to have the assistance of the Clerk to the Governors who, although not a governor, makes an invaluable contribution to our work.

The Governing Body develops the strategic plan for the school and works closely with the Head Teacher to give every member of staff and individual child the opportunity to excel in everything they do. We also act as a critical friend to the school by offering help and support whilst at the same time challenging them through reflective questioning.

The Head Teacher is accountable to the Governors for the performance of the school, and in turn the Governing Body is accountable to parents and the wider community for the standard and quality of the inclusive education that the school provides.

Chilmark and Fonthill Bishop is a school where all pupils, irrespective of ability, can realise their full potential academically, socially and spiritually. We want our children to be curious, imaginative and confident risk takers who are motivated to develop a love of learning that will continue throughout their lives.

15 No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone in the house. 16 In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:15-16 (GNT)
