'Imagine a Poem' the competition winner, Basti Cook
Sycamore class all wrote poems for National Poetry Day, 2017.
The National Poetry Day Association in partnership with Frances Lincoln and Amnesty International UK ran a special competition asking children to write a poem inspired by the theme of Freedom, and in particular, John Lennon’s immortal song Imagine. The winning entries will be published in 2018 as an illustrated picture book.
The winning poems were Freedom by Basti, a pupil at Chilmark and Fonthill Bishop Primary School, Salisbury and Imagine by Molly, a pupil at Appleton Academy in Bradford.
Basti’s poem has been illustrated by National Poetry Day Ambassador and artist Sophie Herxheimer.
